As many of you know, WordPress is a blogging application built with PHP, MySQL, HTML and CSS. This is a powerful tool for any web developer, or, for that matter, anyone with a great idea for a website.

As with any profession, web developers, once revealing their skills to friends and family, are approached with “Hey, I’ve got a great idea for a website that you could help me with.” And, because I can help, I find myself volunteering for a new project. Unfortunately, sometimes these great ideas can have a hard time getting off the ground, not because the idea wasn’t a good one, but simply because my “idea person” had no real content. Oh, sure, I can put together a “shell,” with great navigation, colors and graphics for them, but, is that really what they wanted. Not likely and you’re making a lot more work for yourself and not getting their idea launched. You can help your friend bridge the gap between idea and implementation by using WordPress. Let them be “web developer” by setting up a WordPress site for them and their idea can flourish as they build their content.

It’s easy to set up the WordPress site and the dashboard is simple to learn. There are powerful plugins and beautiful themes that should satisfy anyone with an idea for a website. Your “Idea person” will probably not even need you to help after learning a few things about the WordPress dashboard. Hmm… did I just make it too easy and put myself out of a job?
